About Us

Historic Downtown Snohomish (HDS) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

We are a volunteer driven and volunteer-based organization.

Our mission is to promote, preserve, and improve the historic district as the heart and soul of the City of Snohomish.

HDS and the National Main Street Program

HDS is helping revitalize Downtown Snohomish using the National Main Street Four-Point Approach as a framework. This program has been used successfully in communities all over the US. In 2010 and 2011, HDS will focus on key areas of improvement:

  • Design: Historic Preservation, consistency with City of Snohomish design standards, signage systems, parking enhancements, lighting.

  • Organization: Community partnerships, resource development.

  • Promotion: Marketing and advertising, annual special events, website,

  • Economic Restructuring: Attract and retain complementary new businesses, promote a pedestrian-friendly environment, encourage mixed use, attract arts and entertainment.
